Our Chairpersons Message
Our Chairpersons Message
Our motto for the Victoria Centre is we are “More than just a Lunch Club”
I have been proud to serve as Chairman for the last few years and have been involved in the Victoria Centre, in some way, since 1977.
The short history below is fascinating and it is amazing that we are in 2025 celebrating 50 years in the town of Lydney.
Ernest Horritt was President of the Rotary Club in 1975 and it was his vision that enabled the old Fire station, the building we call the Victoria Centre today, to be turned into a lunch club. It has played a major role within our Lydney community and the surrounding areas.
The Vic centre, offers a warm, welcoming, friendly space for everyone who walks through our doors. Through home cooked meals, a place to connect with friends and make new friends, it has played a vital role in preventing social exclusion.
Carol Haycock, our Manager, Pam, our cook, together with all our dedicated volunteers work very hard to make the Victoria Centre what it is today.
The Centre helps to provide the 5 pillars of wellbeing which are Physical, Mental, Emotional, Spiritual and Social.
Come along and join us on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday to enjoy a freshly cooked meal.
